- In May 2007 - 65.3% of households in Swindon had broadband internet access, the highest in the UK at the time.
- Noel Gallagher chose the name of his band after visiting Swindon's Oasis swimming pool and leisure centre in 1993, while working as a roadie for a band, Insipiral Carpets, which had been performing at the leisure centre.
- Swindon is known for it's roundabouts - there is even a calendar featuring a different roundabout for each month.
- Swindon started life as a pig market - hence the name derived from 'Swine Town'.
